2011 NHL Playoff Predictions - Round 2

As I type this the second round has already started and two of the first games have been played. Not a big deal though because you're a moron if you base your picks on watching game one of a seven game series.

Before I start with my picks I have to say that I didn't do to bad with my round one selections. Overall I was 5-3 and even managed to predict the actual game outcomes of three of those series (thank you San Jose, Washington, and Tampa Bay).

So here are my second round picks:

Western Conference
(1) Vancouver vs. (5) Nashville - Nashville in 7
As you can tell from my first column, I hate the Canucks. Their first round win pissed me off because I stayed up late to watch OT only to have Edler score and piss me off so much that I couldn't sleep. I'm going with the Predators because I think they have more heart than the Canucks.

(2) San Jose vs. (3) Detroit - San Jose in 6
This should be a great matchup between two veteran teams. I think this is the year that the Sharks go to the Finals and the Wings are just too damn old.

Eastern Conference
(1) Washington vs. (5) Tampa Bay - Washington in 6
I really want Tampa to win this series but I think the Caps have learned from their past playoff failures.

(2) Philadelphia vs. (3) Boston - Boston in 7
Last year Boston had the meltdown of all meltdowns when they were up 3 games to none over Philly only to lose the series to them in seven games. After both of these teams lucked out and made it past the first round it's hard to say who's going to win. I'm taking Boston because I don't like Philly's 3 Musketeers that they have in net and Boston will be out for revenge.
